Office Policies & Patient Information

Scope of Services

Services provided by this practice may include consultative, forensic, evaluative, or administrative psychological services.

  • Many services offered are not psychotherapy and do not establish a therapeutic relationship. 
  • Psychotherapy services are provided only when explicitly agreed to in writing and under a separate treatment agreement.
  • Independent evaluations and opinion letters are conducted for adjudicative, administrative, or decision-making purposes and are not treatment.

Communication Policy

To ensure clarity and appropriate professional boundaries:

  • I do not offer on-demand or unscheduled phone consultations.
  • All services begin with a written inquiry submitted through the website or secure email.
  • Voicemail is not the primary method of communication and may not receive a response.
  • Email or secure messaging is used for non-urgent matters only.
  • Messages are reviewed during normal business hours.
  • For Veterans scheduled for VA Compensation & Pension examinations, voicemail may be used solely for same-day scheduling or arrival issues. 

Failure to follow these communication guidelines may result in delayed or no response.

Scheduling & Payment

  • Scheduling occurs only after services are determined to be appropriate and payment is received.
  • Fees are self-pay only and quoted in advance.
  • Payment is required prior to scheduling or commencement of work.
  • Services are non-refundable once work has begun.
  • No guarantees are made regarding outcomes, ratings, approvals, or determinations by third parties.

Emergency & Crisis Services

  • This practice does not provide emergency, crisis, or same-day services.
  • If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Professional & Ethical Boundaries

 To maintain ethical and professional standards:

  • I do not provide template or pre-written letters.
  • I do not coach individuals on how to present or exaggerate symptoms.
  • I do not provide legal representation.
  • Requests for services outside the scope of ethical practice may be declined.
  • Declining a request does not imply a judgment about the validity of a claim.

Records Review & Declinations

In some cases, an initial records review may be required to determine whether a service can be ethically provided.

  • The records review fee covers the professional time required to make this determination.
  • If a service is not appropriate, I will notify you after review.

Patient Records & Consumer Rights (Texas)

  • Access to Records:  Requests for access to records must be submitted in writing via secure email or other approved method. Records will be provided in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, including timelines and permissible fees
  • Licensing Authority & Complaints:  This practice is regulated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC). If you have concerns regarding professional conduct or wish to file a complaint, you may contact:  Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council
    https://bhec.texas.gov     You may also file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights if you believe your privacy rights have been violated. 
  • Privacy Practices:   This practice maintains patient records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable Texas law. A Notice of Privacy Practices is available upon request. 
  • Final Acknowledgment:  By submitting an inquiry or engaging services through this website, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and understand these Office Policies.
